![]() I loved reading my Raggedy Ann books when I was a child (showing my age here), and Orphan Annie has been made into dozens of books since its original 1885 debut, and into 8 movies from 1918! But do you know where they came from? I was surprised by the answer just as much as when I learned that Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was written by the same author as James Bond! Check out this link to Occulta Thesauri (Don't worry - it's nothing to do with the Occult) and see how these wonderful little red heads came to be: Occulta Thesauri - A Hoosier and his sweetheart ![]() Join me at Wardini Books Napier on the 2nd Sunday every month (from April 2017) at the new Children's Bookclubs. ![]() I hope you've all had a fantastic Christmas with the ones you love, and also have a wonderful 2017! I'm very excited about this coming year..... - I'm going to be working in the Award Winning Wardini Books Napier shop from Wed to Saturdays instead of just one day a week! That means 3 days a week to write! - An idea hit me out of the blue (as the good ones always do), and I'm off across the North Island soon to do some research in my grandmother's home town of New Plymouth. I'm not sure whether it will be a family story, but my Polish ancestors have woken in me, stirring up a story..... - After a year of polishing other new novels, other ideas have been tapping (more like hammering) in my brain, demanding to be heard and explored. So there is no way I'll be short of writing projects this year. - My review site has gone from strength to strength and is being discovered by people all over the world. Which means reading is alive and well, and the joy of discovering a new story (that just has to be read) is just as magical as ever. Hoping you all have wonderful things coming your way. Happy Reading! Isn't this the best Birthday Cake? The only problem I could see is that I wouldn't want to cut it to eat it!
